Coming up. . .

I’ve been wanting to get a couple of big posts done for a few weeks now but time hasn’t allowed.  So here is a sneak peek!

Also, have you heard the new Bon Iver song, Calgary?  Suuuuuuper good.  I met one of my best friends at a Bon Iver concert so his voice has a special place in my heart :)

Have a listen or download it here!

xoxo

It's written in the stars

It is 2:30 AM and I should be sleeping.

But there is too much to do!  I feel like I’m eight years old again when sleeping sounded super boring.

So for now,

I might have to have this dress.  Isn’t it a law of fashion that anytime an article of clothing makes you go, “Gah! What? Ohmygosh,” you’re supposed to buy it?  If not, it should be.

And…

This here, is the song of the week!: Black Sheep.  It inspires me and makes me sad all at once.

Feel free to enjoy the slick pop-out player in place of those clunky YouTube videos.  Sooner or later, every song of the week will be loaded into that little buddy.

In the meantime,

Peace
Love
mp3’s

and dresses.

Can't get enough of: royal blue

The other day I bought an epic dress from Thrush Vintage.

And an obession with royal blue ensued. . .

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX

SEVEN | EIGHT | NINE | TEN | ELEVEN | TWELVE

I'm on a quest to work more vintage into the wardrobe so I feel like this is a good advancement.

I'm also making a concerted effort to stop dressing like I did at 17.  Here's to the first (publicly documented) attempt!

Dress: vintage
Boots: thrifted
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Bracelets: birthday gift

just a little heart

I have a few really fun posts planned for this week, but need to talk about some polaroid magic first!

A few months after I started my current job I spotted a bunch of polaroid 600 film in our refrigerator at work.  And when I say "a bunch" I mean specifically, 100 sheets.  10 packs of 10.  As it turned out, no one was interested in claiming them and so of course I happily did.  This was before The Impossible Project got off the ground so it was an extra special find.  I'm down to two more packs as I write this :(  Anyway, my apartment is rather small so with the exception of some extra specials shots, I started storing them away in a sweet vintage tin.  Until the other day when I finally snapped out of it and realized that was ridiculous.  So I pulled everything off of my largest wall and filled it with the polaroids and the people I love.  I'm not gonna lie. . .it warms my heart every time I see it and that got me thinking about how I can incorporate a little more love and a little more heart in my life.  Turns out, it isn't as hard as it seems.

Night Night, and lots of love.

a look of enduring elegance

I'm not going to lie.  Being out of school is kind of awesome. I'm about to drink red wine, watch 500 Days of Summer, make some jewelry, and flip through these beauties. . .

(yes, that is fabric on the covers!)

(haha. . .too good)

(!!!)

(SO what I'm going for)
; )

oh yeah, and. . .

enough said.

update

As I suspected, removing all of the artistic rules I subject myself to has created some freedom around my productivity.  My website is almost done (yes, again) and the vintage shop is growing slowly but surely.  I decided that rather than trying to photograph, edit and post everything right away, I'll be posting 3 items a day.

The shop so far. . .

The site so far. . .

I might completely change my mind about the feel of it (because I do that) but we'll see :)  It is always hard for me to flawlessly combine crafty and classy so if you have any constructive feedback, please share!

oh Gio

It's been a few weeks and I still haven't introduced you to my new love.  Meet Gio. . .

Gio

He is about 90% Italian, vintage, and pretty fast.  If this weather ever stays nice, Ned has some competition.

an ode to random

Howdy. My mind is all over the map today so I will share some random good things.

1) I may or may not have thrifted again today. This is on top of scouring Etsy for somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 hours this week. I think I have a problem. . .a problem that has stumbled upon these treasures:

No, I didn't buy any of it.  The day that Jadite salt and pepper shakers fit into my budget, you blog world, will be the first to hear about it.

2) Today I met the cutest woman at the D.I. in Centerville when she noticed that I scored all of the good vintage books. We chatted for nearly an hour about our obsessions, traded contact info, and I think we both felt a little less alone in the world after parting ways. It was magical.

3) Old. Books. Are. Amazing. The way they smell. . .the illustrations. . .the
covers. Wait, what? I've already gushed about this on here? Okay, fine.

4) This website is effing genius.

5) Lately I've become incredibly drawn to and inspired by various textiles. I don't know why I'm so surprised by this, given my fascination with textures in general, but yeah, I feel like there is something there to consider. In the meantime, I might bite the bullet and take some costume design classes in the fall and finally conquer my fear of sewing machines.
