Coming up. . .

I’ve been wanting to get a couple of big posts done for a few weeks now but time hasn’t allowed.  So here is a sneak peek!

Also, have you heard the new Bon Iver song, Calgary?  Suuuuuuper good.  I met one of my best friends at a Bon Iver concert so his voice has a special place in my heart :)

Have a listen or download it here!

a wind has blown the rain away. . .

I'm late posting this baby.  But considering that there is about 3 feet of snow outside, I'm going to let it slide and visually reminisce about the beautiful season that just came to a close.

and a poem for you, my loves. . .

a wind has blown the rain away
by e.e. cummings

a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think i too have known
autumn too long
(and what have you to say,
wind wind wind—did you love somebody
and have you the petal of somewhere in your heart
pinched from dumb summer?
         O crazy daddy
of death dance cruelly for us and start
the last leaf whirling in the final brain
of air!)Let us as we have seen see
doom’s integration………a wind has blown the rain
away and the leaves and the sky and the
trees stand:
       the trees stand. The trees,
suddenly wait against the moon’s face.

music & polaroids

I've had this post planned since Sunday, but I keep getting distracted by design projects. . .and now my external hard drive is having formatting issues.  So for now, dear friends, enjoy the polaroid sneak peek!

Also, I can't get enough of this song right now.  Don't you think Ryan Adams sounds a lot like Neil Young in this song?  Pitter patter goes my heart!

And this one:

The Art Weekend - SLC

This weekend I participated in The Art Weekend here in Salt Lake City.  It was the perfect opportunity for me to learn some very specific, long-awaited skills.  First, Illustrator.  I've been working and designing in Photoshop for years and have always known there was an entire world I was missing.  The possibilities are endless and I'm sooooo excited.  More on that in a later post.  The second thing I had a chance to dabble in was studio lighting, taught by renowned photographer, Nicole Hill Gerulat.  She was awesome and the class was super helpful and informative.  After Nicole set up the shots and gave us some demos she gave us a chance to shoot.  These + a few hours of editing today, are the final result.  Enjoy!

Something became incredibly clear to me after shooting these: I want to be shooting primarily in the studio and I want to master the manipulation of light.  This is great news for grad school :)

San Francisco dreaming

It is decidedly so: I am (finally) moving to San Francisco next summer and I simply cannot wait!!!  I don't know of too many things I dream about more than this, so at 3AM last night I decided it was time I got artsy about it.  I'll be selling prints of these + more, soon!

Actor Headshots: Collin - Salt Lake City Portrait Photographer

A few months ago I had the pleasure of shooting headshots for an amazing actor and my dear friend, Colin.  He looks pretty spiffy, don't ya think?

buried treasure

Do you ever stumble upon hidden gems within your own photo archives?  I was updating my jewelry shop and came across this shot that I totally overlooked before.

I love the way our eye for things can transform over time.  I think maybe I'll do some intentional digging today.

How is your Tuesday treating you?
